Choi Jung Won is a South Korean musical actress. She graduated from Youngpa Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Theater from Seoul Arts College. She made her debut as part of the ensemble in the 1989 production of "Guys and Dolls", and she has become the representative 1st generation musical actor icon as she is respected by seniors and juniors due to her incredible singing, dancing and performing abilities.

In 1992, she was a backup singer for Seo Taiji and Boys and a backup dancer for singer Yang Joon Il. In 1995, she won the Female Newcomer Award at the Korea Musical Awards for her role in the musical "Save The Last Dance For Me", and one year later, she won Best Supporting Actress for "Singin' in the Rain".

In 2000, she made history as the birth of her daughter was recorded and broadcasted in the SBS documentary, "The Miracle of Life", where she chose underwater childbirth as C-sections in South Korea were approaching 50%.
